1. Did You Know....

.....there is no governing body to regulate dance education  in the United States?

In other words, this means there are absolutely no qualifications necessary to own, manage, or teach at a dance studio.  A parent must be very careful when making a selection of a dance studio in which to place their child's health, safety and education.  We ask that you consider our f.a.q.'s as guidelines when researching and interviewing studio owners and instructors about their programs and classes.

2. Does the Director and Staff have a solid arts education and background?
The staff at Axis Dance Center are all well trained with an extensive background in dance education.  They have danced professionally and worked for several companies and studios.  There bios are available on our staff page, as well as at the studio.  We are a studio made up of dancers.   Your child will receive their training from a qualified instructor from the ages of 6 months through adult.  We will never have an instructor on staff who is inexperienced as a dancer.   We feel that you as clients have the right to the best training and service possible and not merely a babysitting service.

3. Does your facility have proper dance floors?
We have installed professional dance floors in both of our rooms.  We have a oak wood floor in room 1, and a very lovely marley floor in room 2.  These floors are designed to the O'Mara  floor specifications and are considered absolutely safe for a dancer's joints and help to reduce impact or damage that can be done by dancing on improper floors.

4. Do you speak only positively of other area studios?
Yes.  We encourage good sportsmanship among our dancers and the dancers from other studios as well.   We also are very supportive to Shane Hall's Prodigy Dance Center, located in Columbus, GA...we think of it as a sister studio!!  We want to set an example for others to follow.  Gossip and rumors will not be tolerated on any level.  We strive to rise above this.

Yes we do.   We consider what the student wishes to achieve and the difficulty level they are on. The parent and the student must be in agreement to these lessons.

6. Are students required to compete?
No.  Only students on Axis Dance Force are required to compete.  On an occasion if a class shows alot of interest from both the parents and the students, they may be invited to join in a competition.  Participation would have to be agreed upon by all involved in those circumstances.

No.  We will be happy to provide a fee schedule to anyone  with all possible charges for both competition and non-competition students. The only unpredictable price will be costume fees.  These fees will be given as soon as costume decisions are made and payment installments may be made.  We will also provide a detailed monthly statement and yearly statements upon request.

9. Do you utilize teenagers as instructors?
No...we do not.  We do have assistant instructors from our most advanced students and they may substitute in an emergency.   However, your child's education and safety are very important and will only be placed in the hands of qualified adult  as a permanent instructor.  There are no unqualified teachers at Axis Dance Center.

10. Can a parent observe classes?

11. Do you see a progression in dance abilities from youngest to oldest?
Ask to observe several classes at different ages and levels of dance.  Start with 3 yrs and move to 6 yrs, then 12 yrs old.  By the time you see the senior dancers at the studio, you should be able to see the abilities increase and also see a tremendous level of accomplishment by the senior dancers.
