We understand how much our students love recognition for all of their hard work and achievements. We love participation and understand that is also important. So with these things in mind, we have decided to set up a scholarship and awards program for our students.
Each year the staff at Axis will be watching all year to see which students have good attendence, meet all the dress codes, follow all the rules, work hard in class, and become a role model for the other students. At the end of each dance season, each staff member will nominate a student for our Axis Dancer Of The Year Scholarship. To be eligible for the scholarship the student must have never missed a class unexcused. We will then discuss the choices and narrow it down to one. The student chosen will receive the next dance year free, as well as a trophy and retain the title of Axis Dancer Of The Year. The other students will receive a trophy or medal of recognition. All students, whether Team or Recreational, are eligible for the scholarship. No student may hold the title more than once every five years. The scholarship is good only for the following dance year, after that time it is considered null and void. The scholarship is only good for monthly tuition and does not include costs for team apparel, solo, duo, or trio choreography fees, competition fees or costume fees.
We will also be giving out achievement awards in each discipline, such as: Outstanding in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop, & Tumbling. There will also be certificates of merit given during the last month of classes for each level completed. We want all of our dancers to enjoy themselves. Dance is about having fun and learning. We hope that each dancer will love the art as much as we do.
Congrats to our first winner of our annual scholarship, and our new Axis Dancer Of The Year 2009-2010, Miss Emma J. Great work this year, Emma!!!
